Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 4, 2026

Your trust matters to us. This is ForgeInBit, Inc.'s single, comprehensive policy document — it covers what personal data we collect and how we protect it, and also sets out the academic and platform policies that apply while you learn with us (attendance, assessments, assignments, certificates, conduct, content protection, and how to raise a concern), plus our fee, refund, and liability terms. We keep it all in one place, rather than scattered across a dozen separate pages, so it's easier for you to actually read.

Part A — Your Privacy & Data

1. Information We Collect

  • Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored as a salted hash — we never store plain-text passwords) when you create an account.
  • Learning data: courses and live cohorts you're enrolled in, lessons completed, quiz and exam results, assignment submissions, attendance in live sessions, notes, and certificates earned, used to power your dashboard and progress tracking.
  • Payment information: processed by our PCI-DSS-compliant payment provider (Razorpay). ForgeInBit never stores your full card, UPI, or bank account number.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and usage analytics collected through cookies and similar technologies.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and improve the learning platform, including personalized course recommendations, live cohort scheduling, and progress tracking.
  • To process payments, issue and verify certificates, and provide customer support.
  • To send transactional emails (receipts, batch/session reminders, course updates) and — only with your consent — marketing communications, which you can opt out of at any time.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents, including rate limiting on authentication endpoints.

3. How We Share Information

  • We never sell your personal data.
  • We share data with service providers who help us operate the platform — hosting, payment processing (Razorpay), video-conferencing for live sessions (Zoom/Google Meet), and email delivery — bound by data-processing agreements.
  • Certificate verification pages show your name, course or cohort completed, and completion date only when someone visits your unique verification URL, which only you can share.
  • We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

4. Cookies

  • Essential cookies keep you logged in and remember your preferences (like dark mode).
  • Analytics cookies help us understand how the platform is used so we can improve it. You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings or our cookie banner.

5. Data Retention & Security

  • We retain your account data while your account is active and for up to 12 months after deletion, except where longer retention is legally required (for example, payment and tax records).
  • Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest. Access to production systems is limited to authorized personnel with multi-factor authentication.
  • Certificates and their verification records are retained permanently so they remain verifiable, unless you request their removal.

6. Your Rights

  • Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and, where applicable, GDPR/CCPA, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data.
  • You can exercise these rights from your account settings or by emailing privacy@forgeinbit.com. We respond within 30 days.
  • If you're not satisfied with how we've handled a data request, you may lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Board of India (once constituted under the DPDPA, 2023).

7. Children's Privacy

  • ForgeInBit is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact privacy@forgeinbit.com and we will delete it.

Part B — Academic & Platform Policies

These policies apply once you're learning with us — in a self-paced course, a live cohort, or the LMS portal for enrolled live batches.

8. Live Class Attendance

  • Live cohort classes run on a fixed schedule and are best experienced live — that's where you can ask questions and get real-time feedback from the instructor.
  • Recordings of live sessions are provided strictly for revision and reference. Watching a recording is not a substitute for attending the live session and does not itself count as attendance.
  • Where an instructor has enabled a certificate for a specific cohort, keeping up with sessions — live or, where permitted, by catching up promptly on recordings — may be a condition of receiving it. We'll always tell you the specific expectations for your cohort up front, not retroactively.
  • If you know you'll miss a session, let your instructor know in advance where possible so they can point you to what you missed.

9. Assessments, Quizzes & Academic Integrity

  • Course and cohort quizzes, exams, and coding assessments are used to check understanding and, where applicable, count toward course completion and certificate eligibility.
  • Standalone practice quizzes attached to free resources (for example, our interview-guide self-checks) are ungraded, don't require a login, and we don't store your individual answers — they're just a self-check tool for you.
  • For any graded assessment: do your own work. Don't share questions or answers with other students, use unauthorized tools during a timed assessment, or have someone else complete it on your behalf.
  • If we find an assessment wasn't completed independently, we may invalidate the result, require a retake, or — for repeated or serious violations — restrict your account under our Code of Conduct.

10. Assignments & Project Submissions

  • Where a course or cohort includes assignments or projects, submit your own original work by the stated deadline. If you use a public library, dataset, or reference, credit it rather than presenting it as entirely your own.
  • Instructors review and grade submissions and may offer a resubmission window after feedback — this varies by course and is communicated to you directly, not assumed here.
  • Late submissions are handled at the instructor's discretion for that course or cohort; check your specific assignment's instructions for its policy.
  • Copying another student's submission, or submitting work you didn't do, is treated as an academic-integrity violation under our Code of Conduct below.

11. Certificates

  • Certificates are issued once you've met the stated completion requirements for a course or cohort (as shown on your dashboard), and are digitally verifiable via a unique link that only you can share.
  • A ForgeInBit certificate confirms skills training completed on our platform. It isn't a degree, diploma, or a credential issued or recognized by a government education authority, and it doesn't guarantee any particular employment or salary outcome.
  • Certificates and their verification records are kept permanently so employers and others can verify them. Altering, fabricating, or misrepresenting a certificate is a serious violation of our terms and may be reported where appropriate.

12. Code of Conduct

  • Be respectful in live sessions, community spaces, and with instructors, mentors, and fellow learners — no harassment, hate speech, or abusive behavior.
  • Don't share your login credentials, impersonate an instructor or ForgeInBit staff member, deliberately disrupt a live session, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems.
  • Violations may lead to a warning, temporary suspension, or — for severe or repeated violations — permanent account termination without refund, at ForgeInBit's discretion and proportionate to the severity of the conduct.
  • To report misconduct by another user, an instructor, or staff, email support@forgeinbit.com; we handle reports confidentially, to the extent the investigation allows.

13. Content Protection & Intellectual Property

  • All course content, platform code, branding, and design are owned by ForgeInBit or its instructors and protected by copyright and trademark law.
  • Lecture videos are provided as protected streaming only. You may not download, screen-record, redistribute, resell, or publicly share lecture videos or any other course content. Attempting to circumvent streaming protections is a violation of these policies and may result in account termination.
  • Downloadable materials explicitly marked for download (lesson notes, slides, source code) are licensed for your personal use only and may not be redistributed or resold.
  • Purchasing a course or joining a cohort grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access that content for your own learning — it doesn't transfer ownership of the content to you.
  • Code and projects you write yourself while completing assignments are yours. If you publish them publicly (e.g., on GitHub), please don't include ForgeInBit's proprietary starter files, datasets, or internal materials.

14. Grievance Redressal

  • Most issues are fastest to resolve directly: email support@forgeinbit.com with what happened, your account email, and any relevant course/cohort name. We aim to respond within 3 business days.
  • If you're not satisfied with that response, you can escalate in writing to legal@forgeinbit.com with subject line "Escalation — [brief description]"; we aim to resolve formal escalations within 14 days.
  • We handle every grievance in good faith, in confidence, and without retaliation against you for raising it.
  • If, after our internal process, you remain unsatisfied, you retain your right to approach the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, or the Data Protection Board of India (once constituted) for data-related complaints.

Part C — Fees, Refunds & Liability

15. Fees, Payments & Refunds

  • All prices are listed in Indian Rupees (INR) and shown at checkout, processed securely through Razorpay, before you pay.
  • Recorded courses carry a 30-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. Premium subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; your first Premium charge can be refunded within 7 days, and you can cancel future renewals anytime from account settings — access continues until the end of the period you already paid for.
  • Live cohorts run with a minimum enrollment; if we postpone a cohort, you can move to the next start date or take a full refund, your choice. Within the first two weeks of a cohort, you can switch to the equivalent recorded course (we'll refund the difference or apply it as platform credit) or, if it's simply not the right fit, request a full refund, no questions asked.
  • Approved refunds are processed to your original payment method within 3–5 business days.

16. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

  • We provide our courses and live cohorts on a best-efforts basis. While we work hard to keep content accurate, current, and well-taught, we don't guarantee any specific learning pace, exam result, job outcome, or salary — ForgeInBit does not offer placement or job-guarantee services, and nothing on the platform should be read as one.
  • Live sessions depend on third-party tools (Zoom, Google Meet) and general internet infrastructure outside our control; we're not liable for disruptions caused by those services, your own network/device issues, or events beyond our reasonable control (force majeure).
  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, ForgeInBit's total liability for any claim relating to the platform is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in this section limits liability that can't lawfully be limited, such as liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct.

17. Changes to This Policy

  • We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Material changes will be announced by email and in-app at least 14 days before they take effect; minor clarifications may be made without direct notice.
  • Continuing to use ForgeInBit after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy. Questions about anything on this page? Email legal@forgeinbit.com and we'll explain in plain language.
